Subtotal keeps Custom Audiences of your shoppers in your Meta ad accounts and refreshes them every night.

Before you start

  • Connect Meta and grant at least one ad account.
  • Connected before audiences were available? Select Update on the Meta integration to grant audience access.

Create an audience

1

Add audience

Open Meta → Audiences and select Add audience.
2

Choose settings

Wait for the nightly sync

The audience appears in your ad account after the next nightly sync. Edits apply the same way.
Shoppers stay in after they disconnect. Shoppers who opt out of ad sharing, or whose connection you delete, are removed at the next successful sync.

Check status

Size is Meta’s estimate. Small audiences show Under 1,000; — means Meta hasn’t shared one. If the page asks you to Reconnect Meta, nothing syncs until you do. An audience that can’t sync keeps its current members in Meta until access is restored.

Remove

  • An audience: open its settings and select Delete audience. Subtotal deletes it from the ad account, and ad sets targeting it lose it.
  • An ad account: delete its audiences first, then remove the account from Subtotal in Meta Business Settings → Connected apps.
If Subtotal can’t reach the ad account (Ad account not granted or Ad account unreachable), deleting here won’t remove the audience from Meta. Delete it in Ads Manager.
