Overview

Subtotal Widgets are pre-built UI components that make it easy to add Subtotal to your website or application. Drop them into your storefront or customer account pages to let customers link retailer accounts, disconnect accounts, and reauthenticate accounts that are no longer signed in, without building that interface yourself.
Widgets rely on Subtotal Link for the account-linking experience itself. Configure your brand and retailers in the Subtotal Dashboard before adding widgets.

What’s available

Today Subtotal Widgets are available for Shopify, through the Subtotal Shopify app. It offers two components:
  1. Theme App Block: an app block you add in the Shopify theme editor (for example, on the Account page). It’s fully customizable through theme editor settings and custom CSS.
  2. Profile UI Extension: an extension for the newer Shopify customer accounts, so customers can manage their linked retailers directly in their profile.
Use one or both, depending on your theme and whether you use the new customer accounts experience. Need a fully custom design? The Shopify Storefront API gives you the same connection data the widgets use, so you can build your own buttons anywhere on your storefront.
In the Shopify App Store and theme editor, the app and its blocks still appear as Subtotal Connect.

Next steps

  • Shopify: install the app, add the components, use connection tags, and customize the theme app block.
  • Shopify Storefront API: build custom entry points with the app’s JSON endpoints.
  • Not on Shopify? Create an API key and build your own entry point with a Link token.
