# Subtotal App

> Where consumers manage their linked retail accounts, the brands they share with, and their personal purchase data.

## Overview

The Subtotal App is where consumers manage everything they've shared through Subtotal, in one place. They can see the retail accounts they've linked, choose which brands they share with, and view their own purchase history and spending.

The Subtotal App is available on the web at [app.subtotal.com](https://app.subtotal.com) and as a mobile app on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play, with the same features on every platform.

## What consumers can do

### Sign in with their email

Consumers sign in with the email address they used when linking an account. There's no password: Subtotal sends a sign-in link to that address. Signing in brings together every brand connection made with that email, across all the brands they've shared with.

### Manage their retail accounts

Consumers see the retailer accounts they've linked (for example, Amazon, Target, or Walmart) and can:

* **Link a new account** through the same [Subtotal Link](/docs/subtotal-link/introduction) experience they use on your site.
* **Sign back in** when a retailer login has expired, so purchase collection can resume.
* **Remove an account** they no longer want in the Subtotal App.

### Manage the brands they share with

Consumers see each brand they share purchases with, grouped by retailer account, and can:

* **Stop sharing** with a brand. The connection is disconnected and that brand stops receiving new purchases from it.
* **Sign in again** when a brand connection has expired. This relinks the connection, and purchases missed while it was expired are collected and shared. One sign-in restores every brand connection that was waiting on that same retailer login.

### See their purchase data

Consumers can browse their purchase history and spending in one place. What they can see follows what they agreed to share:

* **Accounts linked in the Subtotal App:** full purchase history and spending across stores, by retailer and by category.
* **Brand connections:** only the purchases that brand received, which is what the consumer agreed to share when they linked through your brand.

## What it means for your brand

The Subtotal App gives consumers a clear, trustworthy place to see and control what they share, which makes linking an easier decision. A few things to plan for:

* **Connection changes reach you as webhooks.** When a consumer stops sharing with your brand, you receive [`connection.disconnected`](/docs/webhooks/events#connection-disconnected). When they sign back in to an expired connection, you receive [`connection.activated`](/docs/webhooks/events#connection-activated), and missed purchases are delivered as usual.
* **Consumers stay in control of their data.** Stopping sharing in the Subtotal App applies to new purchases only. It does not change purchases your brand already received.
* **Point consumers to it.** Link to [app.subtotal.com](https://app.subtotal.com) from your FAQ, rewards, or account pages so consumers know where to manage their linked accounts.
